Securing Your Business Name
Registration of a business name is obligatory if an individual, partnership (composed of individuals or bodies corporate or a combination of both) or body corporate carries on business under a name other than their own.

From 1st September 2005, paper applications cost €40 and online applications cost €20. The CRO issues a certificate of registration for a business name that has been registered with them. Typically, this certificate will be needed to open a business bank account.
